Meet the Team

Dr. Sari Kaplan, Ph.D.

Sari Kaplan, Ph.D., earned a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from Barnard College of Columbia University. She subsequently completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at New School University, a program accredited by the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Kaplan completed clinical training at various sites across New York City, including the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health and Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. In her 15 years of private practice, she has provided psychotherapy to adult individuals, couples, and families and supervised early-career therapists.

Dr. Kaplan has been successful in helping many patients find solutions in areas related to depression and anxiety, relationship conflict, trauma (including work with both post-traumatic stress and post-traumatic growth), multicultural issues, motivational difficulties, conflict resolution, and career concerns, as well as issues related to personal identity and sense of meaning. She focuses on helping clients reach their individual goals, clarify values toward making life changes, identify personal strengths, and develop tools to improve the quality of life. Her focal point is dealing with the stress people experience daily, addressing common problems and worries that can mount into serious issues when not treated properly.

All therapeutic changes are underpinned by a collaborative treatment plan that identifies the patient’s goals for psychotherapy. Dr. Kaplan strongly believes in the importance of a strong treatment alliance and a shared agenda for treatment. Ultimately, Dr. Kaplan strives to help her patients heal and grow toward greater fulfillment and life satisfaction.

In addition, as a bilingual (Spanish-speaking) provider, she has over 20 years of experience working with patients from Spain and Latin America, so language is not a barrier to accessing help. A better understanding of a patient’s cultural background provides valuable context and a deeper understanding of their troubles.

Andrew Sidi, MFT-I

Andrew is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern, completing a master’s degree at National University.

Before starting the journey to becoming a therapist, he worked in education for 15 years. Inspired by friends who are clinical psychologists, he took his enthusiasm for cooperative learning and growth to learn how to help others achieve their goals, improve their relationships, and significantly increase their overall quality of life.

Andrew integrates what he’s learned about different modalities (such as Gottman Couples Therapy and collaborative language therapy) to help adults, children, couples, and families lead happier, healthier lives. In the therapy room, he lets his empathy, curiosity about others, and sense of humor guide him.
